One of the first designs I hope to bring to market are my Kayak rack standards. The prototype has been in use for over 2 years on my personal rig. It's a simple idea using aluminum tube and yakima rack clamps. I need to make a version for thule or find someone with a thule rack to try them out on. My design give you two ways to work the straps. Under the T like normal or through the tube so you don't have to deal with straps slipping out of place. They also look pretty cool. The originals were anodized before welding so I had to grind that off but the production versions will get clean anodizing in a few color options. I've also been kicking around the idea of lazer etching the company name and logo down the tube. Here are some pics of the protos on my Jetta.

Lets start out with something recent. Last weekend was the Professor Paddle Ball. A whitewater festival I've helped organize for the last 3 years. Its a ton of fun on the river. We get to catch up with all our old friends we don't see to often and meet many new ones every year. This year we kept if low key, the only real events we had were the creek race and of course the Saturday night shindig. We had a new band come out this year, cool cats from Seattle "Little Brother". They kept us rocking all night by the fire and right in the middle we held the raffle and auction that helps us pay for the event. Well this year was my turn to design the T shirt since our volunteer fell through. Here's what I came up with. We rotated it a little for the shirt but a lot of people were stoked. One lady even asked if she could use it for a tattoo! I told her that would be awesome and send me a photo.

The start of something new.

Over the years I have made a hobby of creating or changing things I use on a regular basis. Recently I was talking with some friends about some new ideas and some old ones and like many other people I've told they were stoked. It finally dawned on me that perhaps I should consider making my ideas available to the public. In my upcoming posts I'll be introducing some of those ideas that I hope to be able to market or at least share with everyone. Follow along to see if I can make something from this design business or if it will stay a hobby. Either way, it'll be fun. ~Adam
